My name is Joo (Janie) Hyun Shin and I am currently attending Texas A&M University as a Horticulture major emphasized in floral design/event planning and minoring in business. I will be graduating in the fall of 2017 WHOOP. While attending Texas A&M I have learned a tremendous amount of knowledge in floral design by taking floral design classes under Professor McKinley the Benz school of Floral Design's endowed chair. I grew my passion and skills in learning about flowers and also about the business environment by taking business classes such as management, marketing, accounting, financing and many more. By being a member of the Student American Institute of Floral Design, I began to build my experience by improving my floral design skill by "creating avenues for campus outreach and ensuring the future of AIFD and the floral industry". I hope to one day be able to use my career as a way of making others happy in their important moments in life and use my position as a way to help others in need. Service is one of the core values of being an Aggie and I believe giving back is a really incredible thing to do and I hope to one day achieve that goal. I am currently looking for a position in floral design/event planning and hope you have enjoyed getting to know a little more about me!
Thanks and Gig'em

Horticulture 451 ( Retail Floristry) This course is about floral design in the retail environment and what makes a successful retail floral shop and what consists of having your own business. Below is an example of a paper we had to write about trends impacting our profession and the professional profile presentation power point.
